It was my sixth time in Jamaica and more than before I noticed that Portland is a place where I can still find the real Jamaican life. The people are extremely friendly and they accept you as tourist and let you meet them. I went to the market in Port Antonio and also in Negril and the difference is chocking. In Negril everybody is shouting at you, wants something from you. In Port Antonio it's like you are a resident, someone who lives there allready longtime. They want to help you even when you didn't ask for it. Concerning the hotel Mockingbirdhill, I must say that this was a very good experience. Everybody is so friendly and the feeling is also very Jamaican. It is the best hotel in Jamaica I've been, also because it's located in the most beautiful region of the island. Service, Rooms, Employées, managers, food everything is perfect. This hotel in combination with the region makes your holiday perfect. Certainly if you come for the first time to Port!
Antonio, At Mockingbirdhill they give you the best information how to visit the region and that is very important. In Portland you can do a lot of things and you have a beautiful nature. Mostly people choose to stay longer at negril, but Port Antonio is the place to be. It's unbelievable that such a beautiful place is still unspoiled by the tourists. Go there and certainly MEET THE PEOPLE! Eat Jerk Pork at Boston Bay and dance on the beach on the reaggea rythm.
