Plan Your Own Trip

Imagine giving your partner an island as a present…. Port Antonio is the essence of a romantic hideaway. The Aga Khan actually gave his wife Pelu Island, just off the coast, as his wedding gift. While there are not many islands left to give away, you can invite your partner to a romantic retreat. Enjoy intimate moments together lazily floating down the Rio Grande on a bamboo raft or take a boat-ride and enjoy the scenic coastline passing the famous Pelu Island and Blue Lagoon. Love seems to bloom in Port Antonio. If you are seeking a romantic weekend get-away or a location to begin your lives together in matrimony, there is an open invitation to intimacy in quiet coves with the waves kissing the shoreline. Port Antonio is the place to discover or rediscover romance.

Honeymoons
Port Antonio offers a haven for honeymooners with a host of options to suit every couple’s whim. If relaxation is the order of the day, with the incomparable luxury of togetherness, there are deserted beaches edging emerald bays and fragrant mountain meadows to lie on one’s back and count clouds. Drift down a lazy river on a bamboo raft or picnic on a private island. For those who are looking for more active pursuits, there are myriad adventures, from the adrenaline rush of extreme-mountain biking to hiking, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing. Link to activities. Weddings
Jamaica’s marriage laws make the process simple, so spontaneity need not be sacrificed when the moment strikes. Couples need to be on-island for only 48 hours and must provide certified copies of divorce papers and death certificates as necessary. Otherwise, valid passports will do the trick. Most hotels and resorts, along with the local marriage officer, will help with the legalities and will arrange for a minister or appropriate person to perform the ceremony. Many hotels offer special wedding packages with these services included. Usually, about one month’s advance notice is required. How about a sunrise ceremony on the water’s edge or a “royal wedding” in the Caribbean’s only true castle? Trident Castle – a sparkling replica of a traditional Austrian beauty – offers a fairytale setting in which every bride is the reigning queen. Many resorts such as Goblin Hill have abundant gardens and sweeping lawns that are the perfect traditional backdrops –nuptial nirvana. Frenchman’s Cove offers just such an intimate garden setting with an exquisite beach in the background.
