What to pack
• Cotton clothing – synthetics are uncomfortable
in the hot, humid climate
• Casual clothes for the day and dresses, skirts/trousers
for evening. Formal evening wear is not required but most
places request guests not to come for dinner in shorts/slippers,
etc. Also if you would like to attend a church service, please
avoid tank tops, shorts and beach wear.
• Sunglasses
• Hats
• Water bottles which can be refilled
• Mosquito repellent and a light antihistamine cream
in case the repellent does not work.
• Sun Block (The sun can be very strong even on cloudy
days. For sensitive skin bring a high factor lotion.)
• Small medicine chest/first aid kit - in case the sharp
jerk sauces set delicate tummies in turmoil.
• Cool pack
• Beach/shopping bag for your little odds and ends and
for your shopping. You can purchase a Port Antonio Shopping
Bag (canvas tote bag) for US $5.00 and help the destination
with our sustainable tourism efforts! Bags can be bought at
Hotel Mocking Bird Hill. Tel: 876-993-7267
• Rubber sandals to go walking in the waterfalls
• Hiking boots if you want to go hiking
• Long trousers are recommended for both hiking and
horseback riding. For horseback riding wear shoes with a heel
to prevent your foot slipping from the stirrup.
• Camera – bring an extra roll of film with you
if you are not using digital cameras. 400 ASA is good for
the
bright sunlight here.
• Gifts for children – any small useful items
are valued, pencils, crayons and drawing books, books, light
